Like to change the World? Make Software!

By now, if you don’t live under a rock, you are aware of how hardware and software are changing the world! Historically hardware is hard to do but lately things are accelerating to make it easier. And software is the easiest of the two to get into and do well without lot of barriers.

There are lot of cool software applications that are in the making now and preparing us for the future. As Marc Andreessen, says ‘software eats the world’, which is becoming truer every day. You think, software has impact only on the developed world where tech is used most, think again. For example, software plays a huge role in how money is transacted in remote Africa via the popular platform called m-pesa! Here are some areas you can get into making software and change the world!

  • Deep Learning and AI, which has lot of applications that will impact our lives, in terms of how we get around, how our health is monitored/diagnosed, smart assistants/robots-both personal and industrial.
  • Crypto currencies along with blockchain have the ability to revolutionize lot of fields
  • Industrial utility level 3d-printing/construction, waste-water-energy management where you can impact on bottom line costs while helping the environment
  • Software tools that help with research in health, materials, sciences and space exploration etc
  • Foundational tools that build new software tools, currently very basic examples like code that writes itself!

The list can go on and on and on, bu you get the idea of how big of an impact you can have by building the software. So, pick a domain you like, get building the software and change the world!

Good luck to all the Pieneers! As always, know of anyone or any startup working on this, please let me know, I will update this post.
