Underserved patients within US

This is not a surprise to say that there are a lot communities within US that are medically underserved! They are underserved for a variety of reasons:

  • First and foremost that they are from a poor & economically disadvantaged areas
  • Health professional resources that are offered freely, are limited
  • And a lot of rural population is remote and has no easy access

Governments & communities have been trying to solve this for a long time, for example by encouraging medical professionals to attend the needs of these populations, by offering incentives like education loan repayments etc. It is 2018 and still no way closer to solving this problem. Only way this could be resolved in an accelerated way is to leverage tech and build new technologies/solutions/services, that bring the cost down and democratize access. I want to share this high level problem to start collecting specific, smaller scale #ProWoSo that our Pieneers can tackle!

As always, know of anyone or any startup working on this, please let me know, I will update this post.

For example, I like the project ‘Human Dx’. The project aims build collaborative intelligence combining humans’ & machines’, to develop an open system to enable more accurate, affordable and accessible healthcare for all.

  1. Under-served communities are similar to remote villages in Africa, in terms of lack health care practitioners. The way to bring resources is by leveraging the technology for remote access & diagnosis. Am excited that AI technologies will make that a reality.
