We all have done it, changing oil at the set intervals that are set by the dealers & car manufacturers. But, ever wonder, why? You will be surprised to know that it is not a true real time measure! It is based on industry averages! It is 2018 and is there a way to do it based on make/model/usage etc? Knowing when to do the oil changes, will save everyone lot of time and money. And that is a #ProWoSo
Innocentive has challenge to solve.
“Knowing exactly when engine lubricants have reached their limit has multiple impacts on drivers, both in terms of an economic cost and in the protection of mechanical parts. Changing oil too early is costly and too late can be harmful. Most recommendations for lubricant changes are based on averages (e.g., average miles over time, average number of starts and stops) and are heavily weighted on early lubricant changes to err on the side of caution due to potential mechanical damage. What would a more precise and efficient system look like? This Challenge seeks to answer that question, and is looking for a system to accurately measure lubricant health in real time”
As always, know of anyone or any startup working on this, please let me know, I will update this post.
