Dec 8, 2019Pulse Announced!

Hello Students of VNRVJIET, Welcome! Thank you for your interest & taking part in Pulse. There are prizes!

Everyone knows the global problems like global poverty & environment crisis etc. But not everyone is aware of all the other millions of small & big Problems that are Worth Solving (#ProWoSo). Our mission is to bring awareness to all those problems and inspire kids to tackle them. Pieneers Pulse is an exercise to ask kids and get a sense of what problems that kids find interesting to solve (popular problems).

  • Important Dates
    • Start Date – December 10, 2019
    • End Date- January 3, 2020 (midnight IST)
    • Announcement of Prizes – January 6, 2020
  • Prizes
    • 1 Best Write Up Prize – Rs. 1000
    • 3 Strong Write Up Prizes – Rs. 500 Each
    • 50 Vote Prizes – Rs. 100 Each

Your school’s Pieneers Pulse Lead is Y. Meghana, 73308-47166. You can reach out to her in case of any questions.

  • Steps-To-Do: Follow the steps below to become a valid participant.
    • Create (if you don’t have) a twitter account & follow @pieneers on twitter.
    • Check out Pieneers.com/blog site. You can search for problems OR just browse all of them.
    • Pick a problem (#ProWoSo) that you think is worth solving and/or is most interesting to you. The problem has to be one of the problems posted on the blog.
    • Vote AND/OR Write. You can vote for it AND/OR Write Up (briefly) notes/summary/thoughts on why you think it is a #ProWoSo.
      • Vote = You can just tweet out your like, by saying, ‘I like this #ProWoSo {Link to Problem Page}’. That is it, simple.
      • Write =  Make your argument in writing. Write Up briefly about the problem you like and explain why you like that particular #ProWoSo? Share your thoughts via the comments section of that problem’s page.
    • Email (pulse@vuppalagroup.com) us your name, twitter handle and best email address to reach you for the announcement of prizes.
  • How is judging done?
    • If more than 50 students participate we will give out Vote Prizes via a lottery draw. If less than 50 students participate all of them will get Vote Prizes.
    • Write Up Prizes are created to make students analyze, think and express their interests. There are so many problems in the world and not everyone likes the same. So, go through all of the problems posted on the blog & pick a problem you like and explain in your own words/thoughts why you like that problem. Present your research & analysis with supportive facts/data etc. Remember to keep it simple. We will use these same criteria to judge the arguments.
  • Important Terms & Conditions
    • This is limited to your school/college and only students from your school/college can take part.
    • You have to finish all the steps mentioned in ‘Steps-To-Do’ section, to become a valid Pulse participant and to be eligible for prizes.
    • You can choose to just Vote OR Write an argument OR you can do both.
    • All the comments posted by you will be on Pieneers blog for everyone to see. So, please be respectful and decent. All indecent comments will be corrected by the Pieneers team or will be deleted, making your entry ineligible.
    • If you plan to just vote, pick only one problem to vote on. If you like multiple problems pick the best one. Even if you tweet out multiple likes (either on the same problem or different problems), you will be considered as one voter and you are eligible for one Vote Prize.
    • If you plan to do a Write Up, try your best to explain why you like a certain problem and you are NOT required to present/write any solutions to solve the #ProWoSo. If you want to, you can propose solutions but not required. All you have to do is explain & share your thoughts on why you like a particular problem.
    • There is no limit on how many Write Ups you can submit/post. If you post multiple Write Ups on multiple problems, one best Write Up from you will be considered for the Write Up Prizes.
    • You need to email us (pulse@vuppalagroup.com) your name, email & twitter handle. This is important for us to avoid fraud and also to email the announcement & prizes.
    • Each participating student is eligible for only one (1) prize. It could be either a Vote Prize (for a vote) or a Write Up Prize (for a Write Up) you made. Students selected for Write Up Prizes will not be part of Vote Prizes.
    • If more than 50 students participated and are eligible for Vote Prizes, we will give out Vote Prizes via a lottery draw. If less than 50 students participate all of them will get Vote Prizes.
    • All the comments submitted need an approval before they appear on the problem page! This is to prevent abuse & spam. We will keep monitoring the comments and will try to approve asap.
    • We will tweet about your comments as and when we see fit.
    • Pieneers team will decide who & how many prizes will be given out and only the deserved Write Ups will get the prizes. All of our decisions are final. Period.
