But it did for the top tier workers and this disparity is not right and is a #ProWoSo. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today\u2019s average hourly wage, adjusting for inflation, has just <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2018\/08\/07\/for-most-us-workers-real-wages-have-barely-budged-for-decades\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">about the same purchasing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> power as it did in 1978. Also, the top tenth, in 1970 earned 6.9 times that of bottom tenth and in 2016 it has gone up to 8.7 times. There are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jff.org\/points-of-view\/costs-and-causes-wage-stagnation\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">several reasons<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> why their wages are stagnated:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Corporations focusing on short term gains to satisfy shareholders and caring for the employees<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Labor market discrimination<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Low minimum wage<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Imbalance of market power and diminishing of the unions to counter that<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outsourcing of production to countries with lower wages!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jff.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JFF<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which works on accelerating the alignment and transformation of the American workforce &amp; education systems to ensure access to economic advancement for all, in partnership with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/schmidtfutures.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schmidt Futures<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is launching the $1 Billion Wage Gain Challenge to raise the wages of at least 100,000 workers by $10,000 or more.
